Portrait of Lucy - A Catalan Sheepdog Mix

New Painting being created...

New Painting being created...

Well after a nice holiday break it is back to painting. This time around I am working on two portraits, this one of Lucy, a Catalan Sheepdog Mix and a huge 30x40 in horse portrait (images will follow soon.)

Now back to Lucy, who belongs to Victoria Smith, editor of sfgirlbybay

Poor Lucy just got attacked in a dog park by a Pitt Bull and is recovering from some serious injuries. Lucy has a broken fibula and 4 puncture wounds. The poor dog is resting and I wish him a speedy recovery. Poor baby!

Here is the finished portrait in full. Lucy was out of doors, wearing her rain outfit. Getting that puddle of water right took longer than painting the dog, but now that I look at it, I think it's convincing enough to pass as water. What do you think? Now I am off to work on the horse painting.

Below are updates of Lucy's portrait as the painting developed.

How I painted Lucy from start to finish....
