Behind the Scenes: Sculpting an Artisan Miniature Electric Tea Kettle

DOLLHOUSE WATER KETTLE

Every bespoke miniature build tells a unique story, but some projects carry an extra layer of academic history and prestige. Lately, my studio has been completely absorbed by a truly remarkable commission: The Scholar’s Sanctuary. This custom 1:24 scale diorama is being meticulously crafted as a special gift honoring Nobel Laureate Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee, a world-renowned economist and the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Designing a miniature space for a mind as brilliant as Professor Banerjee’s means finding the perfect balance between intellectual depth and cozy, realistic warmth. In any busy academic sanctuary, a dependable source of hot tea or coffee is an absolute necessity. To bring that lived-in comfort to life at a tiny fraction of the size, I knew the space needed its own modern electric water kettle.

Hand-Sculpting the Details with Fimo

r incredible precision at this tiny scale, ensuring the kettle doesn't look like a toy, but rather a finely crafted artisan piece. After a precise bake, the tiny kettle received its final finishes, transforming it into a realistic, painterly element ready to sit alongside rows of micro-books, research papers, and office essentials.electric water kettle made from fimo
