Child Portrait in Progress 596

child portrait in progress 596 This child portrait has been created from a photographic reference that is extremely bad. The original photo is so dark that I had serious doubts if I was ever able to create a decent likeness from. The first objective was to recreate the face structure in flesh tones that are believable. Since there is no way for me to tell what is going on the in the dark areas of the photos, artistic license had to be applied. By playing up these dark areas with interesting textures and framing them around the face the face tends to come out more. I still have a lot to do with this painting, but for now it's time to get some feedback from the client.
