Wedding Portraits

I recently received a very different portrait request from a very good client of mine. She had attended a wedding at the Villa d'Este in Italy and wanted to give the newly weds a gift by which they could remember the special event by.

She told me that she wanted me to paint the Villa D'Este where the couple was married at. The Villa d'Este is a villa in Tivoli, near Rome, Italy. Listed as a UNESCO world heritage site, it is a fine example of Renaissance architecture and the Italian Renaissance garden. Wikipedia

My client wanted that the painting be sunnier looking, so I chose lighter colors for the painting. Details of the architecture were recreated in a slightly looser fashion as you can see below.

Since this painting was intended as a gift, I was on a very tight schedule to get it finished and totally forgot to take close-up shots of the flowers and trees. There is a lot of texture there, which can not be seen in this work in progress image.

However my client told me that the couple was speechless and very happy with their special gift and well that's really all that matters.
