🎸 Step into the heart of Nashville with Roberts-Western-World! 🎸 Grill Station

Grill

I have been working on recreating the grill station of Robert's Western World. The cooking area is rather small which works out great for the room box.

Grill Station for Robert's Western World Diorama by PortraitsbyNC

I started by designing the grill station and then printing it in 3D with my Bambu printer.

Then I started to age the exterior to give it a more used look.

My favorite part was to recreate the little produce and kitchen gadgets.

Miniature Coffee MAker

The coffe maker was made using beads and cardstock. You can see how it was made here

The bread is made out of foam that I colored to look like bread and wrapped in cling wrap. Then I added a lable and the illusion of having bread on the shelf was completed.
A can and some hot sauce were added. I also needed to make those tiny fast food baskets that the burgers are served in and lined them with tiny sheets of see through paper.
The corner next to the coffee pot needed something of height, so I decided to make some styrofoam cups. Roger's Western World is a very busy place and when I looked at photos of the grill station nothing seemed very orderly. So rather than stacking every little item neatly I made everything sit slightly askew.
The frying station was a bit of a challenge and I used my skills as a painter to create the illusion of depth. The station is actually flat and I used a very thin sliver of foam that I painted in various shades of yellow to create the illusion of oil boiling. Then I used air dry clay and added the tiny fries add all sorts of angles to stick out of the foam. Our brain fills in the gaps of what it sees and associates it with what is stored in out memory. So I am counting on this to work and translate into fries frying in hot oil.
The burgers are made of air dry clay. I made them slightly bigger and rounder because flat pieces of meet would just not be visible from the angle that the grill station is sitting at in the box. Lastly some knives and a grill cleaner were added, which were made out of wood.
Miniature fast food baskets

The little fast food baskets were made by hand out of card stock. It took forever to find the right size red and white square pattern. In the end I found a photo of Martha Stewart wearing a red checkered shirt in a Magazine and glued it to the outside of the boxes. I will post the entire finished grill station at a later time.
