Layering
If making furniture pieces out of card stock make sure to print several of the same items and gluing them neatly on top of each other to achieve bulk.
Sanding
It is always recommended to give the kits a light sanding with a fine grid sand paper to make sure that the corners fit snug together and that the paint adheres well.
Assembly
Most kits are easy to assemble and we are always an email away to help you if you have any further questions.
Do a dry fit first to familiarize yourself with what goes where before gluing any parts together.
We recommend using Crazy glue for a tight fit.
Painting
When painting yardstick warping can easily occur. We recommend spraying the piece with a thin coat of Workable Fixative . After that your kit can be painted with thin layers of acrylic or oil paint. Go easy on the water! To simulate a stain look create thin washes of paint of varying colors.
Any wood stain, acrylic or oil color can be used on wood. Use thin applications for a refined look.
Gilding
After you have given the item a base color apply Leafing Paint . Plaid has a variety of nice colors for this purpose .
Aging
A Raw Umber wash is ideal for aging. use acrylic paint for fast drying and paint on and wipe off until you get the desired look. Finish the piece with a dry stumble glaze and scratch off areas to make the item look really vintage.
Alternatively you can also use any type of antiquing wax .
