Pet Portrait From Your Photo

Dog Face

I painted this portrait over the Christmas holidays for a client who wanted to gift it to someone very special. I was asked not to post the painting, to avoid the surprise being discovered. My client had send me this photo, which she took via her friend's social media account by doing a screen shot and wanted me to capture the likeness of this cute dog.

I like to work with interesting, textural backgrounds and came up with these various soft tones for the painting.

Brown Background

In my opinion when you punch up the colors of the fur a more muted soft background lets the pet stand out more. Anyhow, if you like to surprise one of your friends with a special gift, just take a screenshot of their pet and I will take care of the rest.
