A Christmas Carol - Wishing You All A Wonderful Holiday Season
Share
The Christmas Season is upon us and as you are celebrating with family and friends, I wanted to quickly jump in and wish you all a wonderful Holiday Season. I received a wonderful surprise visit from my daughter, who flew in from Salt Lake . When my son walked in and his hello was followed by my daughters, I squealed - actually I think I screamed :) The best of gifts is to be spending time with your loved ones and I hope that you will be surrounded by family as well.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
A Christmas Carol was painted by the Pre-Raphaelite artist DANTE GABRIEL ROSSETTI (1828 - 1882)and is up for auction at Sotheby's Dec 14, 2013. The painting is from the Leverhulme collection and a beautiful example of the highly decorative painting style of Rossetti which was in vogue in the 1840's.

Rich hues of gold, copper and red make this painting just glow. Rossetti painted the Christmas Carol in the 1860's and used the model Ellen Smith, who has appeared in many of his other paintings, to pose. The painting has a Medieval feel to it and and the two-stringed instrument adds a nice touch to this seasonal painting of a beautiful women playing a Christmas tune.
