Duck Hunting 585
Share
Paintings of duck hunting scenes can be painted with your canine's portrait included. Here a portrait was painted for a dog ready to go hunting for water fowl. If you have missed the work in progress posts the painting started out with a very loose block in of colors that was followed with getting more and more into details.
Since this is a hunting scene the setting had to reflect what the dog was doing. Ducks were added to the water and foliage occupied the for- and background.
Texture is build up to give the expression of lots of leaves and twigs. The original jacket might not have been as colorful, but I love to add color and texture to make something very ordinary look much more extraordinary.
Finally since this is a dog portrait the star of the painting received some attention as well. This is a rather dark looking dog, So I used reflected light to highlight the fur and of course thicker paint applications for added interest.
Finally here is a before and after so you can see what the original photo looked like and what I turned it into.
