Sudanese Girl - Color Application
The painting has started and I have applied the 1st color stage.The color of the veil is giving me some grief though, can't quiet figure out what color it is. I have noticed something interesting, while painting the veil. When I added greys (mix of black and white) to dull the reds the color turned a violet grey. Apparently the addition of white to a red that has a bluish tint like Alizarin Crimson, Rose Madder and Red Rose Deep Quinacridone, turns the red into a violet grey. To overcome this problem an orange was added to the red/violets, which seemed to work best.
