Ode to Love
Has it ever happened to you that while you have listened to a song you felt as if you are being taken back to a time in your life that evokes not only certain memories but strong emotions as well?
I believe that certain songs are capable of doing just that. They somehow trigger emotional responses in us that carry us off - away from whatever we happen to be doing at that time, to an encounter otherwise long forgotten.
I was in my garden listening to music and dead heading my roses when I was musing as usual. That gave me the idea to create a romantic flower painting that had a vintage feel to it. Once I was inside again I started to pain "Ode to Love".
Flowers are often given to lover at the beginning of a romantic relationship and song lyrics often tell of failed love when relationships come to an end. Keeping everything in a "gone-by" , passed into memory sort of feel, I decided that my color choices had to be muted to underscore that this is a farewell message to a love lost.
If there is any doubt, yes - I am a hopeless romantic and just love to tell stories in my work. :)
