Border Collie Painting

Roger Caras once said;" For me a house or an apartment becomes a home when you add one set of four legs, a happy tail, and that indescribable measure of love that we call a dog."
Roger A. Caras, was one of the most prominent public voices for animal welfare as a popular writer, broadcast personality, A.S.P.C.A. president and announcer for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. But I truly believe that anyone who has ever owned a dog has know that fact. When our four legged friends pass on they are deeply missed. This was the case with this Border Collie, which I painted from a photo my client had submitted. It will be a very special Christmas present for a spouse.
The painting started out with a red background, but after some consultation the decision was made to go for beige. I think the lighter background looks nicer. What do you think? I forgot to take a final photo of the varnished painting, but the one below is a good indication of the final result.
