Robert's Western World Miniature Piano by PortraitsbyNC
This is the original old piano that is a bit out of tune and perfect for playing Honky Tonk music. According to JesseLee Jones who is the proprietor of Robert's Western World and the leader of its house band, Brazilbilly, traditional Honky Tonk bands often have a piano player who will use this piano while performing.
Honky Tonk music was not something I grew up with, therefore my interest was peeked and I did some research. Who would have guessed that an out of tune piano is ideal for this music genre. I guess while I wait for a piano tuner to come and tune my piano, I could download some tunes and learn to play it :)
The devil in the detail and after studying the reference phot of the original piano I decided to try making the music desk. That's the part that holds the sheet music. I still have to print off a tiny sheet music to put against this stand but will leave that for later.
Dark brown filament was used to 3D print the upright piano. I then used Acrylic paint to match the color with the original piano. Some parts of the darker color are left to shine through to give the piano and old look.
I still need to add the pedals, but the piano is starting to look mighty good.
I added the piano to the stage for a fitting and it looks perfect. Next I will be working on railing for the steps and the drum set. I love when things start to fall into place and give you a sense of the mini space.
