The Color Chronicles: Why My Little Doodle Mix is Changing Over Time
My little cutie is like a furry chameleon! She started off jet black, then shifted to a rich brown, and now she's rocking more and more grey. It's like she's going through phases—just like someone who missed a few hairdresser appointments, and now her roots are showing! 😄 I've kept her bangs and face fluffy, only trimming her body, and to my surprise, I found a brand-new white patch on her side.
But why the color changes? Doodle mixes, especially those with Poodle genetics, often have fur that can change over time due to genes that affect coat color, called "fading" or "progressive greying." Their fur can lighten with age, or even after grooming, revealing new shades and patches as they grow.
