Creating a Cozy Sewing Room in the Farmhouse Attic Part 2

Linen Cabinet in 1 12 scale

I continued working on the sewing room and decided to rearrange the layout. Because of the slanted room, the space is a bit awkward to work with. For now I added a table with ribbons, which I intent to replace with a mannequin.

Sewing Machine Table

As I had mentioned yesterdy (see part 1) I wanted a space to displau notions on. I had two seperate pieces left over from other projects and painted them in the same tone as the rest of the furniture in the house.

Cabinet

I wanted to keep this rustic looking so I made sure to have lots of brush streaks.

i had these little scrapbooking pieces that I had picked up at Hobby Lobby and they were just the perfect size to use on the cupboard. I joined the upper and lower parts of the cabinet with coffee sirrers that are glues to the bcj to hold the two pieces together.

making tiny spools of thread

I wanted vintage spools of yarn and remembered that I had left over paper cups from the Robert's Western World diorraa. I put some glue all around the cups and used embroiderey thread to cover the entire thing.

After I added those pieces I found some scissors and flowers to give the cupboard more color. A tape meaure is sticking out of the drawer and the handmade box contains spools of yarn.

resin printed basket and frame

I also found these two pieces that were salvaged from a bad print. I cleaned them up and painted them with Vallejo paint. For the frame I went searching for just the right photo and found it in a dolls magazine.

Isn't this doll adorable? I glued her into the frame and used a marker to hide any of the white paper edges. Sometimes pieces need a bit more contrast and that;s when I used markers and gel pens to give items a bit more definition. I also added resin over the printed image to simulate glass.

I think it looks charming and is just the right size to be a filler on the table top. Lastly I added color to the basket to show the yarn and thread spools.

I am waiting for a tiny iron to arrive and still have to think about how to make the mannequin. However I think the sewing room is just about done.
