The Gypsy
In the summer of 2008 I wanted to start a painting based on a Fortune Teller, which thanks to several portrait commissions and not finding a suitable model never got started. Yet my research on Tarot cards and fortune telling has planted the seed in the back of my mind to keep looking for the proper model.
Well, it finally happened and I received permission from the photographer Shamus Tickell and the lovely model, whose name I do not know, to use a photo of a lovely young woman that will be perfect for the painting. After developing my story line, which involved a beautiful gypsy with captivating eyes, the secret of the cards was carefully worked out as well. Above you can see the finished painting of the fortune teller.
