Labradoodles

labradoodle portrait

A labradoodle is a crossbreed dog created by breeding the Labrador Retriever and the Standard, Miniature or Toy Poodle together.  The name first appeared in 1955, but was not popularized until 1988, when the mix began to be used as a hypoallergenic guide dog.

I love their sweet expression, don't you?! This Labradoodle was painted for a client in Michigan as a birthday present and I hope that the recipient will delight in the painting. The background was kept in salmon pink, a soft hue that compliments the Labradoodles light beige fur. The fur was build up using warm yellows, touches of pink, beige and white. The gaze is directed towards the viewer in full attention.
