The Darfur fundraiser has ended and I wanted to take this moment to thank all of those wonderful people who have pitched in and wrote about this event on their web sites, blogs, social networking sites, newspapers and magazines.
The fundraiser raised $290 dollars for the people of Darfur! All this in a time when the world is going through an economic crisis. I am so very thankful, because it goes to show that no matter how bad things might be for each and everyone of us in this time of uncertainty, the desire to help those who are even less fortunate has not gone away.

When I was told by Caitlin to put this painting up for auction through Ebay and donate the funds to UNHCR my first thought was she must be kidding. How could a little known portrait artist, who paints all day just about 7 days a week get enough attention to make this work? Sine 2007, a lot of time was spent on networking and frankly just asking for help. Time after time people have surprised me with their show of support. There were those from the blogging community that stepped in first, then newspaper reporters kept on covering the event. There were those who invited me to speak and participate at their events. After I placed the initial bid too high, some angels stepped in and offered suggestions and placed the first bids to jump start the auction for me. You all know who you are - I am forever grateful!
The painting will be on it's way to the United Kingdom, where a person with a super huge heart has purchased the painting. After I found out who the buyer was, I had to chuckle and thought I should have known. This person spends her entire time raising funds for worthwhile causes and I am thrilled to know that she will own this painting now.
THANK YOU ALL FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND FRIENDSHIP!!!
