Black Dogs Don't have to Look Boring in a Portrait

dog-portrait.jpg

Sometimes I receive photo references that are not only blurry and dark, but also show a dog that has a very dark coat. Basically what I get is dark, flat blurry something out of which a portrait needs to be created. Those instances are ideal for creating a more contemporary looking portrait, that still very much looks like the pet, yet has interesting texture and color.
