Understanding Dollhouse Scale: Choose the Right Size for Your Miniatures
Dollhouse miniatures come in different scales, which affect their size relative to real-life objects.

Here’s a quick guide to help you choose the right scale for your needs:

1:12 Scale (Most Common) – 1 inch = 1 foot in real life. Standard dollhouses and miniatures are typically in this scale. A 6-inch sofa in this scale represents a 6-foot real-life sofa.

1:24 Scale (Half Scale) – 1/2 inch = 1 foot in real life. Miniatures in this scale are half the size of 1:12 scale items. A 6-inch sofa in 1:12 scale would be only 3 inches in 1:24 scale.

1:6 Scale (Fashion Doll Scale) – 2 inches = 1 foot in real life. This scale is commonly used for fashion dolls like Barbie. A 6-inch sofa in 1:12 scale would be 12 inches in 1:6 scale.

Please check the scale of your dollhouse or figures before ordering to ensure the perfect fit! If you're unsure, feel free to ask.

Tips for Finishing Kits

About your Kit

Unfinished Kits require a bit of clean up.

- Resin printed items have spiderweb like strings or spurs. We try to remove most of them for you but if you see them just cut them with an exact knife or scissors.

- Laser Wood cut kits have brown rings around the cut area that are laser generated. Some light sanding will take of that.

Sanding

It is always recommended to give the kits a light sanding with a fine grid sand paper to make sure that the corners fit snug together and that the paint adheres well.

Assembly

Most kits are easy to assemble and we are always an email away to help you if you have any further questions.

Do a dry fit first to familiarize yourself with what goes where before gluing any parts together.

For our resin casts we recommend using Crazy glue and wood glue like Titebond for wood kits.

Painting

It is highly recommended that you use a primer for the resin kits so that the paint adheres well. After that your kit can be painted with acrylic or oil paint. Resin prints do not absorb stains, so you will have to simulate a stain look by creating thin washed of paint.

Any wood stain, acrylic or oil color can be used on wood. Use thin applications for a refined look.

Gilding

After you have given the item a base color apply Leafing Paint . Plaid has a variety of nice colors for this purpose .

Aging

A Raw Umber wash is ideal for aging. use acrylic paint for fast drying and paint on and wipe off until you get the desired look. Finish the piece with a dry stumble glaze and scratch off areas to make the item look really vintage.

Alternatively you can also use any type of antiquing wax .
