Yorkie Portrait of Thor

Meet "Thor" a super cute little Yorkie, who I had the pleasure to paint before Christmas. Copies of the painting are available as canvas prints with and without embellishments. Thor is a boy who weighs a whopping 2 kilos with long silky hair. His owner told me that he believes he is indeed the almighty Thor… no fear to anything, yet he is as cuddly as they come.

When I worked on Thor I was very much reminded of my own little Yorkie Benji, who has passed away.  Thankfully this time around I did not break out in tears, while working as it happened with the last Yorkie commission.

"In Norse mythologyThor (from Old Norse Þórr) is a hammer-wielding god associated with thunderlightningstormsoak trees, strength, the protection of mankind, and also hallowing, healing and fertility. " Source Wikipedia. When Thor's owner mentioned that she liked contemporary backgrounds I thought a turbulent, highly textured backdrop would just be the right thing. There are blues, grays, yellows and red tones from light to dark, soft watery and scratchy elements making up the back drop.
