House Cat Portrait

house cat portrait

This cat portrait started with a rather dark reference photo and a completely cross eyed cat. I lessened the degree of the cross eyed look and used the same greens of the eyes for the background to make the painting more interesting.

When dealing with 8x10 in or 9x12in canvas sizes I recommend zooming in on the pet. There is no reason to loose valuable canvas space to surroundings that really do nothing for the portrait. This cat has a dhouseog portrait companion painting which I will post next.
