I am working on a series of paintings which are a retrospective about my life in

Iran. Here is my tribute "Heavens Flower" from the 'Gardens of Eden' series featured

here . The original and authentic Iranian design used is "Boteh Jegheh" (Aigrette)or the tree of life. This is the most common design and historically used in most of the art-works, dating back hundreds of years. Both woven and sewn.

Boteh Jegheh has originally represented the Iranian Cypress tree, which has been known as the tree of life.

I have always marbles at the intricate designs of Persian miniature art. Filled with repetitive patterns, organic shapes and bold colors, there is something very playful and decorative about this style of work. For me it is a very meditative style of work, since I can just let the brush flow and play around with design while I listen to traditional Iranian music. It is a welcoming change of pace from my usual portrait paintings, which require my full concentration at all times.
