After having waited for Anna Maria's painting to dry I have gone back and lightened the face considerably. Compared to the previous image you will note how the cheek has a fullness to it, which was missing before. This roundness is often flattened by low resolution photographs and it is a guessing job on behalf of the artist to create fullness without over compensating. Roundness of the cheek was accomplished by joining the adjacent value shifts and then gradually scumbling paint. I like to compare it to applying blush, ever so lightly the subtle pinks and roses are put down to give that rosy appearance.
There are still lots of things that need to get worked on, but it was time to show Anna Maria, what's happening with her painting.
