The Illusion of Depth Video - perspective study

Here some generalizations in case the video gets pulled from YouTube

Linear (one point)Perspective

Atmospheric/Aerial Perspective
The fading of colors towards the horizon. Clarity and intensity of colors in foreground are greater than those in the background.

Foreshortening -Supper at Emmaus by Carravagio
Depiction of the body parts

Look at Caravvagio "Supper at Emmaus" the foreshortening of the arms and hands created an illusion of depth. It also serves to invite the viewer into the painting's space.

Look at Andrea Mantegna's "Lamentation over the Dead Christ". The foreshortening of Christ's body creates an atmosphere in which the viewer shares the room. The illusion is further strengthened by the feet stretching over the marble slab.

Cast shadow of objects - Painting of Flowers by Barbara Buer
The cast shadows of the vase and flowers further enhance the illusion of depth on the
table.

Modelé
The various use of color to create depth.
Look at mosaic work or Tinteretto's "Three Apples" or "Cherries" by Paul Cezanne

Overlapping
Objects are placed behind each other in such ways that some are portions are obscurred

Linear Perspective - Masaccio's The holy Trinity

Also look at the work of Johannes Vermeer, especially the tile work

Repoussoir - Vermeer Ärt of Painting
An object is placed foremost at the beginning of the scene.
Look at Vermeer's "The Art of Painting" and note the placement of the curtain
