Transforming the Living Room: 1:12 Scale Farmhouse Makeover Part 1

Welcome back to the workshop! Today, we are tackling a major update in our 1:12 scale farmhouse. While I love the character of this little house, the original paint in this room definitely left a lot to be desired—it was patchy and just wasn't giving the cozy, high-end miniature look I was aiming for.

To fix that, I stripped things back and went with a fresh coat of soft eggshell paint. It immediately brightened the space and created a much cleaner, more professional canvas to build upon.

With the walls sorted, here is the game plan for the rest of the room:

  • Exposed Wooden Beams: I'm planning to add custom wooden beams to the ceiling to bring in that authentic, rustic farmhouse warmth and architectural detail.
  • Fireplace Redo: The existing fireplace is getting a complete makeover to serve as a stunning focal point.
  • Custom Wall Unit: That empty wall was crying out for purpose. I’m building and installing a large wall unit so I have plenty of display area to style and add even more miniature decor items.

Stay tuned as this room slowly comes together! Let me know in the comments what kind of miniature decor you'd love to see styled on the new shelves.
