My arsenal of gardening tools includes a variety of pruners, except for one. The Anvil pruner which cuts branches by pushing a blade through the stem onto the anvil's flat base. Anvil pruners tend to crush the soft tissue of the stem, stopping the flow of nutrients, prolonging the healing time for the cut surface.
When I received this sturdy Anvil pruner from Davaon, I noticed first that the anvil seems very sturdy. The pruner has 5 high carbon steel blades, which cut up to 0.787in (20mm) thick branches. The Aluminium handle has also a soft grip handle, which is meant to protection your hand against scratches and thorns while cutting. The handle also rotates to prevent wrist fatigue when working on larger projects.
I decided to first prune my rose bush. This anvil pruner has serrations on its anvil to hold a flower stem or branch firmly as the blade closes on it, which made cutting super easy. In the case of flower stems, the serrations also roughen the stem slightly to allow increased water penetration, and the stem crusher on the inside of the handle further improves the cut stem's water pickup.
Then I looked for some thicker branches and started to trim those. As you can see in my video, the anvil pruner does a great job cutting through a variety of branch sizes (20mm cut capacity) making pruning a quick and easy task. The pruner also has a locking mechanism, that protects the blade and allows for easy storage.
