Irises - Work in Progress Panel#2

SLIDE SHOW

I have finished panel #2 and thought I post an update. I have to admit that when I first started this project, I was like a fish out of water. Rather uncomfortable with the idea of not being able to render realistic looking flowers, I was fighting the urge to render three dimensional looking petals. Like a mantra I kept constantly kept repeating "the client wants something edgy and abstract". I did show both panels to the customer and they both liked the design and colors, which made me extremely happy.

Three Iris Panels A Work in Progress

The three panels will be hanging side by side with a little separation between each panel. Once I have all three panels finished the final touches are added and color corrections are made so the entire triptych reads cohesively.

Since these are on gallery wrap canvas the leaves and petals wrap around and can be viewed as abstract shapes from the sides as well. I thought it important that if the client ever moved or tired of such a large piece to have the option to hang each panel separately. With that in mind the three pieces have been designed in such a manner to make that possible.
