Born in Ferrara, Italy in 1845, Giovanni Boldini was a portrait painter who career ranged from Paris to England. His bold, fluid style of painting was especially popular with women and he quickly developed a reputation for his dazzling, elegant depictions of the fashionable women.
Somehow his style reminds me that of John Singer Sargent. Brush strokes are visible and there is a very organic feel to the movelment of his lines.
