Girl Portrait 596
This portrait of a young girl has been going through some changes. My client requested that the hair be shorter and that the hat, which was made of some sort of lace would be more pronounced.
Old photos present many challenges for an artist, because key areas are often not visible. I tried all sort of things to see what was not visible in the photo reference and have reached the end of my abilities.
Since I could not for the life of me figure out where hair ended or where the background started, I kept the areas in a very dark shade of purple. To balance the darkness lights were introduced and deep rose madder and pinks were added to make the whole painting harmonize. It's time to show it to the client :)
