I started work on a new portrait commission of a German Shepherd dog. This will be a beach-themed painting of a dog at the beach with the ocean as a backdrop. The blues will be a nice compliment to the ocher and brown tones of the dog's fur. The setting of a warm summer day at the beach is ideal for a calm looking painting. This is the rough stage where color is placed to get an overall feel as to what goes where. I will be adding the name of "Apollo" to the tag for a very personalized look ones the painting is further along. I have also straightened out the horizon line a bit more and will be spending some time on getting the water to look just right.
