Santa's Special Toys

When Thanksgiving weekend comes around I get very excited, because it's the time when I drag out all my Christmas decorations and get busy decorating. I am a big time Santa collector and love painting images of Santas . This 9x12 in oil on canvas is titled "Santa's Special Toys".

I wanted to create an old world feel and added vintage toys like the teddy , wooden toy animals and the mechanical monkey. The gallery shows how I started the painting from a very rough underpainting, developing successive layers as the painting progressed and a detail shot of the face.
