This cat portrait has a bold high energy background.Due to the odd angle of the reference photo, I wanted to make the cat come out of the background. To me it fells like the feline was active and busy and just got caught in one moment to be captured on canvas.
I used a variety of brown, red, ochre, yellow, white, black and even pink colors to create the painting. It resulted in a painting that really makes the head of this cat stand out.
By varying brush stroked from impasto to more blended visual interest is created. Now it's time to let the painting dry and get it prepped for shipping.
