General Mills is sponsoring today’s post, but as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks for continuing to support brands that support me!
Old El Paseo is a brand of Tex-Mex style food from General Mills. They offer a variety of products among them a new line of Stand N'Stuff Taco Dinner Kits. These Old El Paso’s Mini Soft Tortilla Taco Boats are sold with the flat-bottomed soft Taco shells, Taco Seasoning Mix and Taco Sauce. Everything you need to quickly make a delicious Mexican style meal within 20 min.
The El Paseo soft Taco shells are meant to be baked and a meant to make stuffing easier. Taco shells are hard to keep upright when you're trying to stuff them with taco fillings and trimmings. But not these. They do just what they're supposed to and stand upright while they are being filled with deliciousness. Since you can bake the soft shells you can determine the crunchiness of the shells.
We love Taco nights at our home and these shells have made it even more fun to come up with variations of fillings.
I use ground beef that is seasoned with salt and pepper and cook it in a bit of olive oil. Once the meat is almost done, I add the taco seasoning and some beans ( you can use pinto or black beans) and a bit of water and let everything simmer while I prepare the toppings.
Fresh shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese, chopped red opinion and cilantro for the taco boats. Some sliced avocados and of course sour cream to top it all off.
El Paso has a lot of interesting recipes on their website - check it out!
I received the Taco Dinner Kit for review purposes and overall give them a thumbs up. I love that I can bake them to the crispiness that our family enjoys. I also love that the fillings no longer spill out. When filling several taco shells at once, it is nice to not have everything spill out.
