Meissen (Zwiebel Muster) Onion Pattern

Several of my German friends have this lovely cobalt blue china pattern, which has a playful design of not only onions, but pomegranate and peaches, which are symbols of longevity. In the center of the design bamboo and a lotus flower complete the pattern. On my trip to Dresden I found out that this pattern is called "Zwiebel Muster" (onion pattern) and was originally created by the famous Meissen Porcelain manufacturer. The design has been around for 270 year and still has not lost it's popularity.

I think it has something to do with the vivid blue against the white. It looks fresh and thus seems timeless.
