Mondrian Yorkie
Share
Today I have a super fun post for all those who are big fans of Piet Mondrian. You know the Dutch painter who marks the transition at the start of the 20th century from Symbolism to Neo-Impressionism and Cubism. I had seen Mondrians work both at the Louvre and later MOMA and remembered the painting he did of the colored squares. That inspired me to get creative with this Yorkie portrait and try something entirely different for the background.
This is a large piece 20x30inches and you can't really see all the detailed colors unless you take a peek at the slide show where I have a close-up posted. Fusing realism with cubism is something different for me, but I have to say I like how it has turned out. I hope you do too.
