AID DARFUR

Many hours of my days are devoted to painting portraits of people from different cultures. I have painted people from the USA, Britain, Mexico, Germany, China, Iran, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Pakistan,India, Africa, etc….What has been the most enjoyable part of it all has been to get to know more about the people and their cultural backgrounds. With all this diversity it is so much fun to see that we might differ in our heritage ,but we have far more in common, than might be apparent at first glance.

After a long day of painting, when I turn on the TV, watch a movie or read a book, I am sadly reminded how soon mankind forgets to be “kind to man” . There is so much ugliness in the world that I feel I just have to do more to counteract, even in a miniscule way, all this evil. I wonder if there is not more I can offer the world, other than being a caring mom, a good housewife, a business woman, etc…. I have donated paintings to many different local causes in the past, but I have been looking for a way to contribute on a more far reaching level. This has lead me to search out Aid organizations, such as UN Refugees Agency - Aid Darfur Campaign

Tens of thousands of people have been killed in Sudan's Darfur region. Over 200,000 have fled across the border to Chad. Millions more are homeless. Most are women and children, terrified while the fighting continues.

The UN Refugee Agency works with its partners to protect these innocents - mostly women and children - and to provide them with emergency assistance in the form of water, shelter, emergency food, and medical care.

I will be donating a painting for them for a fundraiser in the fall and like to invite other artists or anyone else for that matter who is looking for a good aid organization to donate whatever they can.
