Zum Schusterjunge - A Berliner Nostalgic Restaurant
Share

Zum Schusterjunge is a restaurant in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg that is known for its hearty, old-Berlin cuisine, such as: Sauerbraten, goulash, pork knuckle and schnitzel. Dishes are often served in traditional home cooking style, complemented by a rustic atmosphere and the traditional Berliner Weisse, which is made on site.

Being used to my mom's wonderful cooking, I was pleasantly surprised how
much I actually liked the food at this restaurant. Their Roloden were
exceptionally good tasting.

The “Schusterjunge” is one of the few “original” pubs in Prenzlauer
Berg. My aunts told me that in Berlin at every intersection corner it
was customary to find a pub. Apparently is was a very Berliner thing!

However, in ninety years it has gone through a number of changes:
from the wild corner bar - which opened at six in the morning to provide
the night shift workers with Molle, Korn and meatballs - to a “beer parlor”
with schnitzel, and later to a restaurant.

Now with its outdated decor it is a trendy spot in Berlin and a must
visit if you want homemade German food and a trip down memory lane!
