Two Hearts Bound in Shadows and Silk - Custom Valentines Portrait Commission
I have started work on a new portrait commission of a couple. My client has requested a red and black, romantic-themed portrait and requested that I combine two reference photo and turn them into one painting.

Creating a cohesive painting from different references takes a bit of tinkering; I focused on relaxing the expressions and adjusting the lighting to make the figures feel as if they had always been together. Just as in my traditional oil work, I start with a loose application of color before moving into the fine, detailed brushwork that defines a true likeness."
