DIY Miniature Pyrex-Style Casserole Dish
If you love the nostalgic charm of vintage kitchenware, this quick weekend project is for you! With just a little upcycling, you can turn ordinary ribbed plastic bottle caps into adorable, 1:12 scale "Pyrex-style" casserole dishes—complete with a tiny, savory roast potato filling.

Here is how to bring this tiny kitchen staple to life using simple craft supplies.

Materials Needed:
- Clear, ribbed plastic bottle caps (like those from juice or water bottles)
- Metal crown bottle caps (for the lids)
- Small metal eyelets or jewelry split rings
- UV Resin and a UV flashlight
- Miniature printable vintage kitchen labels
- Jewelry pliers and tweezers
- Pre-made miniature food elements (like tiny polymer clay potatoes and herbs)
- Step-by-Step Tutorial
Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Clear off your gridded cutting mat and organize your blanks. Look for clear plastic bottle caps that have vertical ridges around the outside—these perfectly mimic the classic glass textures of vintage baking dishes. For the lids, standard metal crown bottle caps work beautifully.

Step 2: Prep the Lid & Add Vintage Labels
Using a pair of fine tweezers, carefully apply a tiny, circular vintage brand label to the top center of your clear base or inside your metal lid. Next, take your jewelry pliers and insert a small metal eyelet or loop right into the center of the metal bottle cap. This acts as the perfect, realistic handle for your casserole lid.

Step 3: Fill and Secure the Lid
Mix your miniature food elements (like tiny faux roasted potatoes) into a small amount of clear UV resin inside the clear plastic dish base. Once your food arrangement looks perfect, use your UV flashlight to cure the resin, locking the scene in place. If you want a semi-open presentation, apply a tiny droplet of UV resin to the rim of the dish, set the metal lid slightly askew, and cure it instantly with your light to hold it permanently in place.

Step 4: The Finished Miniature
Step back and admire your new creation! Your upcycled casserole dish is ready to be displayed on a miniature wooden kitchen island or tucked into a dollhouse pantry shelf. The ribbed plastic catches the light beautifully, giving it that authentic, heavy glassware illusion.
