Two Dalmatian Portraits
Share
The Dalmatian is a large breed of dog noted for its unique black or liver spotted coat and was mainly used as a carriage dog in its early days. Its roots trace back to Croatia and its historical region of Dalmatia.
These two are part of a series of painting I have created for a client in Singapore. All were done in an abstract, rather modern style, since they will all be displayed together as part of a pet memory wall.
I decided to replace most of the dark spots with color spots and show some of the shading with color washes. Each one of the photos I received for this project was in a different shape and I had to make sure that all the paintings looked cohesive and as part of one series. It was a lot of work, but well worth the effort!
Here are some larger images of the finished paintings.
This is Polly the older Dalmatian and below is Sassy.
