Update 4
The painting needed an added element of mystery and I figured placing the figure out of doors in a moonlit evening setting will just do the trick. Since this painting does not really fit any of my other work, I decided to put it up for auction with starting bit at $50 and no reserve. I have no more room and love for this painting to find a home quickly. Good luck to you if you decide to put down a bid!
Update 3
As the painting continues the model takes on form. Attention now shifts towards the garment and jewelry. I painted this painting Alla Prima, which is a break from my usual routine of carefully measuring everything for exactness. After a long break from painting due to illness, this was my first attempt of standing at the easel for a prolonged time.
Update 2.
Once the form was established the painting received it's first coat of color. The black and white toned painting serves as a a road map of values for the succeeding color application.
Start 1.
After placing a rough under painting down, I started to put the a grizaille over the skeleton structure to give the face form.
