Shabby Chic Decorating Ideas

Old world charm does not always have to come in bold colors and heavy furniture. On the contrary taking old items and combining them cleverly with new ones, can offer the same results with a much lighter, airy feel. There are many ways to accomplish this.

Re-purposing for example can offer a unique and interesting way to create focal points. These plates for example could have been an heirloom passed down from grandma or picked up at garage sales or thrift stores. If it were me, I would actually paint something in a few of them and leave others plank. You could even make copies of images you love and paste them in the centers.

Pulling the colors together by repeating color schemes allows you to incorporate different hues into a room. Not every shabby chic room has to be offshoots of white. The little frame with the purple Morning Glory is a painting done by me and has sold.

There is something dreamy about a room that combines the old with the new, don't you think? Well as you can tell I love to decorate, but I better get back to painting! :)
