Rod Iron Bed in Black and Gold
I am always on the lookout for unique looking miniatures and was thrilled to find this wonderful 1/12 scale rod iron metal bed that comes with a pretty blue floral mattress.
Did you know history shows that an iron cradle dating to the 1620-1640 is one of the earliest rod iron beds? Handmade iron beds seemed to have started in the 1850 and these types of beds retained their popularity until World War I. The metal for the beds was hand poured and then polished until the frame had a nice deep shine. Detailed cast and other finished were added by hand as well.
This little miniature bed however is mass produced and imported and is available from my shop. I have not mastered bending metal to my will yet and will be happy with my mini import.
