Behind the Scenes: Recreating the "Worth the Wait" Book Cover as a 1:24 Scale Shadow Box
Share

Welcome behind the scenes of my latest studio project! I am currently working on a very special, custom 1:24 scale 3D shadow box commissioned as a gift for author Autumn Grey to celebrate her book, Worth the Wait.
Because this piece is a meaningful gift for the author, staying true to the original book cover image is essential. Every detail—from the charm of the farmhouse facade to the rustic fencing—is being carefully planned to capture the essence of the cover in a deep, multi-layered 3D format.
This build will fit inside an 8 x10 inch frame with nearly 3 inches of depth (2.74 inches), giving me the space needed to create realistic forced perspective and install warm, built-in lighting. I am using a variety of mixed materials to construct the relief, sculpt the landscape, and bring the scene off the page.

I’m sharing a quick preview video above, and I’ll be regularly updating the clip with new progress images as the build comes together. Once I have a bit more time, I’ll post a complete step-by-step breakdown explaining my exact process and techniques!
