Mural Dedication Ceremony at the Laguna Hills Civic Center
Share
Yesterday I had the great pleasure to be part of a special mural dedication ceremony held at our local Laguna Hills civic center. As guest speaker I had a chance to share with everyone, why public art is so important and what it means to citizens of a community to be given such beautiful murals that highlight our cities history.
Mr. Robert Evans is a very accomplished muralist, who has been commissioned by the city of Laguna Hills to paint three murals for the civic center. Mr. Evans worked for 2 1/2 years on recreating realistic renditions of three key turning points in the history of the Saddleback Valley.
About 80 people attended, including local artists, who have worked for the city, the mayor and city council members as well as other people who have been involved in this project.
It was a wonderful evening and I met with a lot of people who I knew from my days as President of the SoCAL-ASOPA (Southern California American Society of Portrait Artists.
I have very little time today, but I wanted to share some of the photos of these lovely murals with everyone. I will be updating this post and adding more photos as soon as I get a chance.
