Once in a while you come across a restaurant that makes a lasting impression. Such a place was the Restaurant Homage. As you enter this Maison you also step back in time and enter rooms, lavishly decorated in velvet settees, sofas complete with nick knacks on the mantel and ticking clocks. As you listen to old German music, you feel like a little kid back at grandma's home. You study a comprehensive menu filled with Saxon delicacies and patiently wait with great anticipation, while smelling the sweet aroma drifting in from the kitchen.
Always one to chuckle and the enormous silver spoons and forks I have inherited from my grandma, I now know why they were the size they are. What I use as serving spoons used to be used as regular eating utensils. Why, otherwise you could never get done with the gigantic portions that are served even at this restaurant. I kept asking for half portions, and yes, you read correctly "kept asking", because we just had to go back several times for the atmosphere and wonderful homemade food. I will be sharing some recipes such as grandma's cheese soup with minced meat and potatoes dumplings later on. The food was exceptional and the dumplings out of this world!
