Pierrot is naive and trusting, somewhat moonstruck in his own little world. He has been depicted on stage and in many paintings over the years. He was a stock character of pantomime and Commedia Del'Arte whose origin dates back to the 17th century Italian troupe of players performing in Paris. Pierrot Absinthe Poster Print

Pierrot is a mime character, a French version of the Italian Pedrolino. A sad clown, hopefully in love with Columbine, who breaks his heart and leaves him for Harlequin. He is usually depicted wearing a loose, white tunic with an oversize collar and long sleeves. His face was often painted white and he often wore a head cap. There are many posters and even paintings of this very interesting character.
