Southern California - American Society of Portrait Artist - Portrait Competition

Announcing the 1st Place Winner

As president of Socal-ASOPA, I had the great honor of hosting our 1st Portrait Competition. This nationwide publicized portrait competition, attracted entries from all over the United States.

Many artists had submitted beautiful portraits and I felt bad for the judges who had to narrow down the selection to only three winners. Our chapter also held a group exhibit at the center, where we all displayed some of our work.

The highlight for me was the awards ceremony. Not only did it attract many out of state visitors, but it was very well attended by local visitors as well. Our members did and excellent job in setting up the show and making everyone feel welcomed.

Laguna Hills Mayor Allen Songstadt

City members and the Mayor of Laguna Hills, Mr. Allen Sogstadt spoke about the work on exhibit with high praise.

Highschool Student received award

Socal-ASOPA also fostered creativity in school age children and the competition was open to our local high school students to participate in a student category.
