Prie Dieu Prayer Kneeler Painting
Share
This is my latest painting "Prie Dieu" also called a prayer kneeler or kneeling rail. These are found in many churches in front of the seating benches, so that members of the congregation can kneel on them instead of the the floor.
I love visiting churches in different countries and took the reference photo for this painting in a church in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I was drawn to the grouping of the three chairs, because it reminded me of the trinity. Each kneeler has a wooden cross in it's center as well, which reinforces the symbolism of the trinity.
